Amendments to tyre regulations made
November 3rd, 2007 by gofaster
At a special meeting held today, the Grand Prix Commission made some alterations to the rule book in the tyre category, particularly the allocation and testing sections. The amendments increase the amount of tyres allowed in each of the MotoGP riders allocations per race. Previously this season it had been 31, under the new amendment it is bumped up to 40 (Front tyres: 18 Rear tyres: 22). They have also made it possible for the tyre Manufacturers to test for 4 days at a pre-nominated MotoGP venue per year along with the designated official test days throughout the season. MotoGP riders are forbidden to take place in these testings and the testing must take place at any time after the MotoGP event has been held at that particular venue. Should a new circuit be introduced or an existing circuit is totally resurfaced, then a 2 day tyre test must be conducted at that particular circuit a minimum of 4 weeks prior to the actual MotoGP event. Hope this clarifies the new rules!
